PAAU Vice-Chancellor receives KGIRS on courtesy visit, reaffirms commitment to transparent revenue system

The Vice-Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, has reaffirmed the commitment of the University Management to a transparent, accountable and technology-driven revenue administration system in line with the Kogi State Government’s ongoing fiscal reforms.

The assurance was given on Tuesday 28th July, 2026 when the Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS), Dr. Sule Salihu Enehe, led the management team of the Service on a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor at his office, Senate Building.

Speaking during the visit, the Executive Chairman of KGIRS, Dr. Sule Enehe, said the visit was not only to deepen the cordial relationship between both institutions but also to congratulate Prof. Salisu Ogbo on his appointment as the Sixth (6) substantive Vice-Chancellor of the Prince Abubakar Audu University.

Dr. Enehe described the appointment as a well-deserved recognition of competence, visionary leadership and exceptional administrative ability, expressing confidence that Prince Abubakar Audu University would continue to witness unprecedented growth under Prof. Usman’s leadership.

He described the Vice-Chancellor as “a miracle worker,” recalling his remarkable achievements as Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, where he transformed the institution through far-reaching reforms that restored academic excellence, strengthened campus security, improved infrastructure, enhanced institutional discipline and renewed public confidence in the Polytechnic.

In his words, the outstanding transformation recorded at Kogi State Polytechnic justified the confidence reposed in Prof. Usman by the Kogi State Government to lead Prince Abubakar Audu University, noting that the University had already begun to witness purposeful leadership and progressive transformation since his assumption of office.

Dr. Enehe explained that the ongoing implementation of Nigeria’s new tax laws, coupled with Kogi State’s migration from manual tax collection to a fully digital Central Billing System, was designed to eliminate revenue leakages, strengthen transparency and accountability, and enhance Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

According to him, an efficient and transparent tax administration system remains one of the strongest foundations for building a resilient economy capable of supporting quality education, healthcare, infrastructure, security and other critical sectors.

He noted that Kogi State’s tertiary institutions possess enormous economic potential and expressed confidence that Prince Abubakar Audu University would play a leading role in driving educational excellence and socio-economic development through transparent and efficient revenue management.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, expressed appreciation to Dr. Enehe and his management team for the visit and the goodwill extended to the University.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the University Management to transparency, accountability and prudent financial management, assuring that Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba would continue to align with the revenue reforms of the Kogi State Government in promoting institutional efficiency and sustainable development.

Prof. Usman commended the Executive Chairman of KGIRS for his purposeful and innovative leadership, noting that the reforms being championed by the Service had continued to strengthen public confidence in the State’s revenue administration.

The Vice-Chancellor also acknowledged the longstanding cordial relationship between the University and KGIRS, and expressed optimism that the partnership would further enhance institutional development, improve service delivery and contribute to the advancement of Kogi State.

In his remarks, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Mohammed Suleiman Audu, appreciated the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, CON, and the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for what he described as their enduring commitment to quality leadership, purposeful governance and the transformation of public institutions across the State.

He described the Executive Chairman of KGIRS, Dr. Sule Salihu Enehe, as “a square peg in a square hole,” noting that his leadership had continued to build institutions and develop human capacity through innovation, professionalism and exemplary public service.

Prof. Audu commended Dr. Enehe for his commitment to manpower development, and appealed for sustained collaboration and institutional support from KGIRS to further strengthen the growth, development and advancement of Prince Abubakar Audu University.

Delivering the vote of thanks, the Bursar of the University, Mr. Abdulsalam Hudu, expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Chairman of KGIRS, Dr. Sule Salihu Enehe, and his management team for the courtesy visit and the confidence reposed in the University.

Mr. Hudu reaffirmed the commitment of the University Management, under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, to strengthening its partnership with KGIRS and ensuring full compliance with the State’s revenue administration reforms.

He expressed optimism that the collaboration between both institutions would continue to foster transparency, institutional efficiency and sustainable development.

Highlight of the visit was the presentation and exchange of complimentary souvenirs as a symbol of mutual respect, institutional partnership and shared commitment to transparency, good governance and sustainable development..

The meeting was attended by Principal Officers of the University, Directors, senior management staff of KGIRS amongst others.
