Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State, has charged 2,187 newly inducted Forest Guard Corps members, to uphold human rights and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
The governor gave the charge on Saturday during the passing-out parade of the guards at the Police Training School, Yelwa, in Bauchi Local Government Area.
Represented by his deputy, Rt. Hon. Auwal Jatau, Mohammed said the two-week intensive training was designed to equip the corps with the skills needed for environmental protection and security support across the state.
“This initiative demonstrates our commitment to peacebuilding. It symbolizes integrity and discipline,” the governor said. “I urge you to be good ambassadors and strictly observe the rules of engagement in all your operations to achieve the objectives of establishing the Forest Guard Corps.”

He warned that the state government would not tolerate unlawful acts by any member of the corps, adding that the guards must prioritise environmental sustainability and the protection of lives and property.
Also speaking, the Commander General of the Bauchi State Vigilante and Youth Empowerment Agency, Dr. Umar Shayi, commended the governor for strengthening local security outfits.
He urged the new guards to remain committed and dedicated to duty, and lauded the collaboration between formal security agencies and the state vigilante agency.
“We assure the public of our total commitment to promoting a safe atmosphere for lives and property across Bauchi State,” Shayi said.
The event was attended by representatives of security agencies in the state.
