The Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State has taken a major step to bolster grassroots security with the foundation laying of a permanent divisional office for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Malete.

The ceremony, held recently, brought together top security officials, judicial representatives, community leaders and political office holders, underscoring the importance attached to security in the council area.
The Acting State Commandant of NSCDC in Kwara, DCC Ayelabowo Isaac, joined the Executive Chairperson of Moro LGA, Hon. Mariam Omotayo, at the event marking the commencement of construction of the new office complex.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Omotayo said the project was initiated by the local government in recognition of the Corps’ critical role in protecting lives, property and critical national assets in Malete and neighbouring communities.
“Our administration is committed to strengthening security architecture across Moro Local Government. The NSCDC has shown dedication in safeguarding our communities, and this permanent structure is part of our support to enhance their operations,” she said.
She assured officers and men of the Corps of sustained collaboration and institutional backing to enable them carry out their mandate effectively.
In his response, DCC Ayelabowo expressed gratitude to the council leadership for what he described as a strategic and timely intervention.
“This facility will significantly improve our operational efficiency and boost the morale of our personnel. We deeply appreciate the Moro Local Government Authority for this partnership,” he said.
The Acting Commandant reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to professionalism, integrity and improved service delivery, assuring residents that the NSCDC would continue to work with other security agencies to ensure peace and stability in the area.
Among dignitaries at the event were the representative of the Chief Judge of Kwara State, Hon. Justice Y. Dikko; Area B Commander, ACC Hafusat Mustapha; the Divisional Police Officer, Malete Division, CSC Edward Egamana; the Divisional Officer, NSCDC Shao Division, SC Ajape; traditional rulers, heads of security agencies and members of the host community.
