Jigawa Pension Board disburses N1.856 Billion to 728 retirees, relatives of deceased Civil Servants

The Jigawa State and Local Governments Contributory Pension Scheme Board, has commenced the disbursement of N71,856,875,526.27 as terminal and death benefits to 728 retirees and relatives of deceased civil servants.

This was made known by the Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr. Bilyaminu Shitu, while briefing the beneficiaries at the Pension House.

Dr. Shitu explained that the payment encompasses gratuity, death benefits, and death pension balance. He said, of the total amount, N1,546,000,171.79 will be paid to 607 retirees, while N289,793,204.10 will benefit 96 relatives of those who passed away while in active service.

Additionally, a final batch of N21,082,150.38 would be disbursed to 25 retirees who passed away shortly after retiring.

Highlighting the scheme’s effectiveness, Dr. Shitu stated that the Jigawa State and Local Governments Contributory Pension Scheme is the foremost pension scheme in the country, committed to timely payments for all retirees, including those who have died in service. This reflects the state government’s unwavering dedication to the welfare and financial security of its civil servants.

The Executive Secretary extended heartfelt gratitude to Governor Malam Umar Namadi, for his steadfast support and transformative reforms initiated since he took office.

He revealed that the administration of Governor Namadi has injected billions of naira into the scheme, significantly enhancing its viability and instilling confidence among retiring civil servants.

Beneficiaries expressed their appreciation for the timely disbursement of benefits, emphasising that it would help them meet financial obligations and improve their quality of life in retirement.

This disbursement is part of ongoing efforts to honor the dedication of civil servants and support their transition to post-service life with dignity and stability.
