*Says General Gowon enjoys God’s grace

By Aishat Adejoh

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has promised to support the North Central Nigeria Prays Rally, scheduled for Lokoja, on Sunday, October 26.

Governor Ododo described the Convener of the Pray Rally and Nigeria’s former Military Head Of State, General Yakubu Gowon, as someone who enjoys God’s grace.

Speaking on the heels of Sunday’s North Central Nigeria Prays Rally, scheduled to hold in Lokoja, Governor Ododo, represented by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Oyibo, said even at the age of 91 years, the retired former Nigerian leader, still finds it expedient to move round the country and gather men and women to pray for Nigeria.

The Governor, who was speaking when he received the Local Organising Committee of the Prayer Rally, led by Bishop Olukayode Ajibade, expressed optimism that the prayers, would have positive impact on the country and re-affirmed that God is set to do a new thing in the country.

While noting that the retired Army General has demonstrated his love for God, Governor Ododo, assured the Committee of the state’s readiness to support in making the Prayer Rally a success.

Earlier, Bishop Ajibade, had intimidated the Governor that the last time General Gowon was in the state for the same purpose, was 8 years ago, noting that in spite of his age, he has chosen to make himself a vessel in the hands of God to continue to pray for the continued peace, unity and progress of Nigeria.

According to him, no challenge is too huge to surmount when people give themselves to prayers, adding also that prayer is the most potential instrument to bring about positive and sustained changes.

In his remark, the Kogi State Head of Service, Dr. Elijah Evinemi, applauded the vision of General Gowon, describing him as a role -model.

The Prayer Rally is to hold on Sunday, 26th October, 2025 at the Crowther Memorial Church, Lokoja beginning from 3:00pm.
