From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

Leaders of thought in Kwara South, have declared their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term.

They described his administration as a blessing to the district and urging stakeholders to embrace unity as a foundation for development.

Speaking at the Kwara South Leaders’ Roundtable in Oro, Irepodun Local Government Area, Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Oyelola Ashiru, said the people of the district have every reason to rally behind the President and the APC, following the recognition and appointments given to their indigenes at the federal level.

“There will be a new Kwara South. You will be inspired, you will be taught a new lesson, and you will see the changes yourself. If President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not making Nigeria a great nation, I will not remain in APC,” Ashiru declared.

He explained that their endorsement was not just about politics but about progress, noting that Tinubu’s leadership has brought opportunities to Kwara South.

“We are saying this because we want Nigeria to be great. We are saying it because we want Kwara South to develop. The President has recognised us and has done so much for us. The best thing any leader can stand on is the interest of his people,” he added.

Ashiru also applauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for transforming education in the state and urged him to take on higher responsibilities at the federal level beyond 2027.

He further pledged support for any aspirant from Kwara South who indicates interest in the governorship race.

Chief Abiodun Dada, Esq, in his remarks, called for unity among political leaders, stressing that harmony was the bedrock of development. “Our elders say one tree cannot make a forest. In the same way, no single town or group can build the future of Kwara South alone. Unity is the very heartbeat of development,” he said.

Dada commended President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor AbdulRazaq’s administration, pointing out that Kwara South has benefitted immensely with appointments such as the Deputy Senate Leader, Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, and the Group Managing Director of NNPCL.

“Have we enjoyed political patronage like this before? The answer is no. This is a clear indication that Kwara South has a greater future in this dispensation,” he remarked, while calling on stakeholders to consolidate efforts for bigger opportunities, including the governorship, come 2027.

Otunba Abiodun Ajiboye, Executive Secretary of the National Institute of Cultural Orientation (NICO), described Tinubu’s administration as transformative. “Kwara South desires a platform for unity. Only when we are united can we think of development. We must also appreciate our governor, His Excellency AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for the wonderful jobs he is doing,” he said.

Also lending his voice, former APC Chairman in Kwara State, Bashir Bolarinwa, said the endorsement was well deserved. “I align with every suggestion made here. Genuine, dedicated, courageous, progressive, forward-looking people of Kwara South have gathered here to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for a second term in office, given his track records,” he said.
