Residents of Temidire community, along Egbejila Road in Ilorin, were thrown into shock recently after the dismembered body of a 39-year-old woman, Mrs. Esther Enemo, was discovered in a bush behind her home.
According to the Kwara State Police Command, the incident was reported around 9 a.m. by a concerned resident who suspected foul play in the residence of the victim’s husband, Mr. Ekene Enemo. Detectives who rushed to the scene found parts of the victim’s body scattered—some hidden in a sack and dumped beneath a nearby bridge.
The police confirmed that a suspect, 29-year-old Mr. Sylvester Enemo, younger brother to the victim’s husband, has been arrested after witnesses spotted him leaving the house shortly before the gruesome discovery. The victim’s husband has also been contacted by investigators for clarification.
The Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, CP Ojo Adekimi, described the killing as disturbing and assured that justice would be served. “We will leave no stone unturned in unraveling the circumstances behind this tragic incident. The Command is fully committed to ensuring that all perpetrators are brought to book,” he said.
The remains of Mrs. Enemo, has been deposited at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) morgue for autopsy.
Meanwhile, the police appealed to residents to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information that could cause panic.
“Adequate security strategies have been reinforced across the state to safeguard lives and property. We urge members of the public to continue cooperating with the police by providing useful information that can aid our investigations,” said Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi.
The Temidire community remains in mourning as residents struggle to come to terms with the shocking tragedy.
